We have continued to share about ourselves through our writing this week. I like... I can...
We were so excited to look at our books that we got from the Book Fair this week!
In our Math center, many loved working together to see if they could build the tallest tower. Then, they had to see how many cubes high their tower measured.
We have been doing an Authors Study on Todd Parr. His books pair so well with our current planner. We are loving the stories and how they all have such a positive message about being yourself, loving each other and the world!
We had fun learning about pumpkins this week! We learned all about their life cycle and then did our own experiment. We are going to try and see if we can get our pumpkin to sprout!
On Friday afternoon, our 4th Grade Reading Buddies came and we read and also made a fun snack together (Pumpkin Fluff)! It was fun to get to know each other a little more!

Picture Day was Tuesday and everyone looked so adorable and special in their non-uniform clothes! We also got to preform a song at the
K-2 All School Morning Meeting!
Picture
At the K-2 All School Morning Meeting, students were recognized for being caring! They were presented with the "Living the Learner Profile" award. Luke was chosen from our class!
In this planner, we are learning a lot about ourselves and our friends. We are making a lot of connections about things we have in common. Our Ambassador of the Day brings in something from home to share. This week, they started a chart and the Ambassador drew a picture of what they brought. If you made a connection with that person about their item, we signed our name. We talked about how it is okay to not always like all the same things.
Picture
I love how excited we are to READ! At the Library Center, we choose good-fit books and practice reading by ourself or to each other.
In Writing Workshop we have been talking about sense words. We will be connecting sense words to word choice in our writing to make it more interesting! We have been looking for sense words in books as we read them this week too!
Picture
In Mandarin this week, we learned the vocabulary for family members. We had fun acting out each one too!
We read with our 4th Grade Reading Buddies for the firs time on Thursday! We had so much fun getting to know them, reading to them, and them reading to us! We are so excited to get to do it each week!
Sometimes at CIS, the unexpected happens! Around 3:45pm one day, Christian Kirksey (Linebacker for the Cleveland Browns) showed up to do a meet-and-greet with students! He took pictures and signed autographs too!

We began our new planner this week. We started off talking about the season. Then we charted where the holidays belong. This lead to us making connections about holidays we celebrate. This also lead us to talk about some of our differences. We learned that some of us celebrate different holidays.
We also talked about what it means to be open-minded. We read a great story that really helped us understand what being open-minded means.

We are doing well in our Centers. We are staying in our area, working together, learning, and having fun!

We had so much fun celebrating the start to Fall this week! We explored leaves and used them for art and math. We also made fall patterns.
In Mandarin we are still working on number recognition and counting. We are really getting good at it!
We were talking about nouns the past few weeks and now this week we moved on to verbs. We love to share our writing!
We ended our week with an apple tasting!

The Curious kinders were very inspired by a book we read. They came in on Monday spreading so much kindness! Ava brought in a toy she had for Reuben because she knew he liked it; Alma brought in books to donate to our library; Hank drew pictures for all his friends! Wow! My heart is full on this Monday morning by how we are all living the Learner Profile!💗 #campusinternational #ibpyp
This week we focused on authority figures in our community. We talked about authority figures in our classroom, school and neighborhood community.
4th graders, Emma and Alta, came to teach us about the Action Cycle and how it connects to all the kindness we are spreading!
Choose: What can I do?
Act: How can I do it?
Reflect: What was the result?
